Project controls, PMO and asset support for Shell's Brunei LNG and Oman LNG service agreements

In brief

From July 2023 to July 2026 Inderpreet Singh was Engineer – PMO and Asset Support at Shell India Markets in Chennai, managing operational service agreements (OSAs) and asset support plans for the Brunei LNG and Oman LNG portfolios. He led execution of the 2024–2025 Brunei LNG OSA, valued at USD 27.5M with 31,900 asset support hours monitored, and directed Oman LNG OSAs for 2023–2030, worth USD 48.8M cumulatively with 22,567 asset support hours. The role combined project governance with commercial control: KPI and performance reporting, asset demand dashboards in Salesforce Fit4, work breakdown structure updates, monthly financial forecasting, contract terms of reference, scope changes and deal-risk monitoring. Power BI dashboards he built across three LNG portfolios saved 456 man-hours a year (0.25 FTE) and delivered USD 24,000 in external stakeholder efficiency gains, and resolving Brunei LNG invoice disputes recovered USD 50K in man-hour costs.

What does LNG asset support involve?

  • Managing service agreements and asset support plans so projects meet cost and timeline goals.
  • Working with asset support managers, discipline engineers and third-party service providers on governance of technical workstreams.
  • Running monthly project stand-ups for integration, role clarity and accountability.
  • Managing project lifecycles: planning, budgeting, resourcing and closure.
  • Overseeing contract terms of reference, scope changes and financial tracking, and monitoring deal risks to resolve disputes and financial exposure early.

How did reporting change?

I prepared and analysed asset KPIs and project performance metrics, built asset demand dashboards in Fit4 (Salesforce) for visibility of delivery status and resource needs, kept work breakdown structure elements up to date, and produced monthly forecasts and performance reports for leadership reviews. Building Power BI dashboards across three LNG portfolios saved 456 man-hours a year, equivalent to 0.25 FTE, and delivered USD 24,000 in external stakeholder efficiency gains.

How was USD 50K recovered?

By resolving Brunei LNG invoice disputes over man-hour costs and fixing the manual billing workflow that caused them.

Governance and process improvements

  • A one-page SOP for engagement creation and closure, improving alignment for 200+ operations staff.
  • Structured action tracking and consistent stakeholder communication to shorten reporting and feedback loops.
  • Standardisation with subject-matter experts and digital tools, and automated reporting wherever feasible.
